Why Choose The British School?

Why Choose The British School of Costa Daurada?

The British Educational System is world renowned, has a large trajectory of support, and its pioneering work methods, which many other countries are attempting to implement. Concepts such as project work, active education, learning areas, individualised child-centred learning, promoting personal growth, critical and investigative thinking, independence, teamwork, and communication skills define our school.

The methodology used in the Early Years British Educational System includes characteristics of various pedagogical methodologies (Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Waldorf, High Scope, among others), which are reunited in the curriculum.

British Curriculum

Committed and Innovative

More and more families around the world are interested in a British Education. The good practises of the schools following the British Curriculum are the foundations that enable this education.

In a British school the pillars of learning are positive reinforcement, personalised attention respecting each child’s development, and the use of open spaces for learning, interacting and developing relationships with peers. That is why the British Curriculum includes PSHE (Personal, Social, and Health Education) so as to achieve a socio-affective balance.

These traits also help to guarantee a transformative learning experience; by adapting to the local realities. Schools are given the independence to develop and work towards excellence.

Linguistic Project

Developing Self-Confidence and Empathy

At The British School of Costa Daurada, we are fully aware that communication and language are one of the most transcendental areas of personal development. That is why we offer a linguistic programme which aims to help expose the students to their environment, so that they may learn from it and thus contribute to their personal, social, and emotional development. These are all key ingredients in the development of happy and confident children.

Immersion from a very young age in a plurilingual environment favours creativity and strengthens the self confidence of students. They are able to communicate with many kinds of people, and thus develop sensitivity and empathy for others.

Our linguistic programme aims to guarantee competence in English, Catalan and Spanish. German is taught in our school as a foreign language. The linguistic programme is brought to fruition through our innovative curriculum, in which we use the context of each subject to integrate the languages in a truly significant manner.

Forest School

Promoting Resilience and Creativity

In Forest School, access to learning through nature is considered an essential part of the school curriculum. Establishing a link between students and nature allows for the opportunity to create a dynamic classroom. In England, the first Forest School was founded in 1908.

We regularly dedicate planning time to the development of our Forest School project, giving it priority as it is a very inspiring subject for our students. Guided by our specialists the children develop a positive attitude towards learning and they affront new challenges such as resilience, teamwork, independence and creativity.

House of Values

Learning and Growing with Each Other

We all belong to a community, with the school being one of the most important communities that contributes to our development. For this reason we place importance on teamwork, helping and guiding each other every day.

It isn’t just one single action or activity which is used to promote these collaborations, but rather a continued effort to ensure our students are taking advantage of the many opportunities which the educational community has to offer.

Our House of Values programme, in true Harry Potter style, connects students from youngest to oldest through four large school family groups. Activities fortalize this first bond, and create strong relationships with peers of all ages.
